The last time I went to Japan, I was with Grace and Al, and we wrote a joint blog with daily-ish entries outlining what we got up to. Since that was our first visit to the country, it made sense to explain what we were up to day by day. This time around, I’m here for a bit longer, and spending the time more ‘focussed’ on just being – seeing what happens – rather than checking specific things off of a checklist. As a result, it doesn’t feel as natural (or necessary) to overlay a detailed narrative this time, so I’m just going to post a selection of pictures in batches for this trip.
This first week I have been flying solo, with Grace coming out to join me soon. So far I’ve spent most of my time just wandering around looking at things, choosing to walk rather than get the train, and racking up almost 85,000 steps in the first three days alone. It’s been really nice to revisit old places with fresh eyes, discover new ones, and cross paths with different people while generally taking things at a slower pace. I just hope that the next few weeks don’t slip by too quickly. I can already feel myself getting nostalgic for somewhere I haven’t left yet.
I’ve got heart shaped eyes for the cherry blossom and Game Boy bag. Strawberry sandwiches though? Hummm.
The obligatory kit kat pics! These are wonderful photos.
Thank you!
Fabulous photos!
