Chicago Boat Tour

On our trip to Chicago in May one of the options as part of the conference was to go on a boat tour through the city. I’m not sure about anybody else, but the rivers aren’t the first thing that come to mind when I think about Chicago, so it was seemed like a cool thing to do.

Being anti-social though (or maybe just undecisive), we went on our own as a group.

Chicago’s skyline is pretty impressive. We just don’t seem to have skylines in the UK… definitely not outside of London or Birmingham anyway.

That black building in the background is the famous ‘Sears Tower’. It’s technically now called the Willis Tower, but nobody refers to it as that, so I’m not going to either.

We passed by a whole host of waterfront party bars and boats who cheered back at us.

“Dick’s Last Resort” is an interesting name for a pub.

The controversial Chicago Redskins logo.

The CTA train running trundles high over the city streets, in amongst the skyscrapers. One of the coolest things about Chicago.

This is one of two of the ‘corn cobs’ at Marina City. These round buildings take up an entire block, are about 60 storeys high, and have the cars parked outdoors round the outside of them.

In the middle of it all, is this quaint old fire station – complete with fire boats.

  1. Love the boat tours. One of my favorite things to do downtown. 🙂

Its the Chicago Blackhawks though, as of yet, not too controversial. Blackhawk being the name of a person and not a racial slur. Washington D.C.’s team is the controversial one. 😉

Aha! Thank you for clearing that up 😀
