Sabbatical Diary: Electric Tentacle

Last week I headed down to Stoke-On-Trent, to play some music at an experimental electronic night called the Electric Tentacle. Over the course of my three month sabbatical from work, I wanted to get out of Glasgow, say ‘yes’ to new opportunities, and play some live shows – boxes that this trip ticked nicely. I didn’t take a huge amount of pictures, as I was focussed more on the performance side of things, and putting together a video, which you can watch below.

Fortunately, my recurrent partner-in-crime Lee had agreed to come along for the adventure, and he helped document proceedings (you can find his video here).

The pictures I did end up taking were all of the other performers.

There were a couple of pictures of us, which I grabbed from my Zoom Q2n video recording…

and the aftermath… which included a rather pleasant walk through a deserted town center.

This is a rare occasion where I think the video is much better at expressing what I would want to than I could with words, so I won’t try duplicate any of that here. However, what I will say is that my experiences over the past few weeks have reminded me that it there are lots of possible adventures to be had, but that you often need to get out there and make them happen. If you wait for opportunities to present themselves, then you could be waiting forever. They don’t need to be especially grand occasions either… as often the most unassuming circumstances prove to be some of the most rewarding. In the coming months I have a lot planned, and in some ways I wonder if I’ve over-booked myself with big ticket items… failing to leave room for the perhaps less obvious ones. I guess we’ll see.

  1. I came to view the Hassy pics (all good stuff) then find out you’re playing some cool night in the place I live that I’ve never heard of. I need to get out more…

    1. I am here to enlighten!!
