Here’s some more pictures of when I ended up in Dublin with Automattic a couple of months ago. If you missed the first lot, you can see them here.
Dublin Castle is where they handed over power from the British to the Irish in 1922. It was rather poignant being there, given the Scottish independence referendum set for September. It made me wonder where a similar ceremony might take place, should the vote be a yes… the Scottish Parliament seems to make most sense.
I found it quite amusing that they were unloading a box with a Microsoft logo on it for some reason.
One of the coolest things about this place is that they have embraced vivid colours around the back of the building. It says a lot about Irish character that they’re not afraid to do something like this, and breathe life into their city. I think colour should be embraced more, in a variety of different ways.
Though I can see that they have fallen into the same idiotic trap as we have at times in Scotland – building horrifically ugly buildings right next to the old and beautiful ones.
