Despite living just a 45 minute train journey away from the city for about 26 years, Edinburgh’s Calton Hill is somewhere that I’ve never been.
Spending the weekend there, me and Grace took a trip up.
For such a short walk, the view is impressive.
The structures up here illustrate pretty clearly why Edinburgh is known to some as the ‘Athens of the North’ – something I’ve never been all that convinced of before now.
If you’re going to visit, make sure to take a trip up at night as well. During the day it can (and will) be crowded with tourists, but in the dark it is just as breathtaking. There’s an eery silence that can be quite comforting, or spooky, depending on how you take it.
